titled "The Sound of the Wasp" featuring Rich Matteson and
Phil Wilson. Available through The Rich Matteson Foundation.
- In May 2009 completed a new legacy CD "Uniquely Rich". This
is a compilation of live recordings of Rich throughout his music
career. Available through The Rich Matteson Foundation.
- Since 2010 presented awards to the outstanding high school
students in each band at the annual Koger/Matteson Jazz
Festival at the University of North Florida.

Rich Matteson Foundation Wins Merit Award
from Indie Fest
Jacksonville, FL The Rich Matteson Foundation
has won a prestigious Award of Merit for Feature
Documentary from The Indie Fest. The award
was given for the Foundation's high quality DVD
documentary, "Rich Matteson, Portrait of an
Original". This DVD follows the life story of one
of America's greatest Jazz artists - Rich
Matteson, from his early days in Las Vegas to
his recording work with Louis Armstrong, to an
internationally renowned career and co-founder
of one of the most unique groups in Jazz
history, "The Matteson/Phillips TubaJazz
Consort". This documentary covers the
evolution of America's only original art form
through this artist's personal life. Interviews
with jazz artists Pat Metheny, Doc Severinsen,
Pete Barbutti, James Moody, Louie Bellson, and
a host of other greats help tell this amazing
story! Even thou the DVD is not completed for
sale at this time, it did not eliminate our entry
to The Indie Fest to be considered for an award
in the feature documentary category. We hope
that this award will help us complete this
inspiring documentary on Rich that will continue
to touch the lives of future generations of
musicians. The Indie Fest recognizes film
professionals who demonstrate exceptional
achievement in craft and creativity, and those
who produce standout entertainment or
contribute to profound social change. Entries are
judged by highly qualified professional in the
